Earnest Dixon 
Services: Sat., June 18, 10 a.m. 
Viewing begins at noon. 

A hour of meditation will be held tonight from 7-8 p.m. in the Jesse E. 
Cooley, Jr. Chapel for Earnest Dixon, 91, who passed away June 13, 2005. 
Services are Saturday, June 18, 10:00 a.m., at Pleasant View MBC, 700 South 
Haley St. The Reverend Tim Graves will officiate with interment to follow in 
Veterans section, in Union Cemetery. Mr. Dixon was born May 20, 1914, in 
Texarkana, Texas and had resided in Bakersfield for many years and was self 
employed as a gardener. He was a WWII veteran and honorably discharged in 
1944. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hayes and Pearl; four brothers, 
Clarence, James, William and Lynox; a sister, Annie Fort. Earnest leaves to 
celebrate his home going his wife, Marie Dantzler Dixon of Bakersfield, CA; 
sister, Ethel Dixon Stewart of Texarkana, Texas; three sons, Earnest Jr., 
Clarence and his wife, Irene Dixon, James Dixon of Bakersfield, CA; four 
stepchildren, Kenneth Hailey and Calvin Hailey Jr. of Bakersfield, CA, Joann 
and her husband, John C. Baker of Acton, CA, Jeanette Hailey and Anita Terrell 
of Sacramento, CA; twenty-two grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and a 
host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
