Steve was born on February 26, 1954 and left this earth on July 30, 2005. Born in Oxnard, CA, he moved to Bakersfield at age four and graduated from Foothill High in 1972. He was a prominent bail agent who entertained all with his commercials as the owner of Bail Bond Leon and later Oil dale Bail Bonds. He even appeared before the California Legislature and performed an integral role in passing bail law. He was a play-by-ear musician and music fanatic; traveled so that he could show loved ones new places; had an unending sense of humor complimented by his big heart; warmed his mothers heart with countless phone calls, comical voice messages, and often reminders of his appreciation of her love; and would never let a story go unheard or a favor left undone. He lived his life for those around him and we will all miss having good news and not being able to tell him first. He is survived by his mother, Kay Dodgin; three children, Jennifer, Dustin and Alicia Dodgin; his fiancée, Peri Jonas, her children, Chris and Courtney Hardt and her parents, Earl and Jerry Jonas; sister Beth Taylor and her children, Geoff and Lindsey; auntie June; numerous cousins; and the mother of his children, Sue Dodgin. He is preceded in death by his grandma Dody who will be watching over him. Steve was so proud of his family and will be dearly missed. Services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2005 at 1:30 pm at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Lane. A college fund has been set up for his youngest daughter, Alicia. Donations can be made to Washington Mutual Bank Acct #341-688618-9. Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian from 8/3/2005 - 8/4/2005.
