Evelyn Joy Downing 
September 11, 1927 - July 7, 2005 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 14, at 9:30 a.m., at Union 
Cemetery. Evelyn was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas September 11, 1927. In her 
earlier years she enjoyed horse races, gardening, going to the beach, and 
spending time with her family, her special love is for butterflies. Evelyn was 
preceded in death by her husband Charles Edward Downing who was Cherokee 
Indian. Our beloved mom is survived by all 4 of her children, daughter, Denise 
Downing and Kathy Chilton, daughter, Diana Goesling and her two children, 
daughter, Michelle and Mike Hines and son, Eric and Tainema Goesling, son, Dan 
Downing and daughter-in-law, Tina Downing and their two children, Derek and 
Sara Downing, and daughter, Kathleen Ryan and her 5 children, Mark and Ashley 
Haddock, Summer Burleson, Chastity Ryan, Madison Mata. Evelyn has 4 great-
grandchildren, Jarret Hines, Eric, Aniya, and Shania Goesling. Evelyns 
brother, Jimmy Ray and sister, Dixie and Paul Williams. Mom passed away at 
home with all her children by her side. Mom leaves to mourn her passing by 
numerous other family members and friends. She was loved by all that knew her. 
Mom we love you and miss you dearly. Mom you are in Gods hands and finally 
free. The family wants to give special thanks to her caregiver Evelyn Calzada 
and Optimal Hospice, LVN Amanda for her wonderful care she showed our mom and 
grandma. On butterfly wings on wings of my own, to you I am gone but now I am
