All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ca/cafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: K T bluewolf@onemain.com November 9, 2005, 10:30 pm The Bakersfield Californian Eichman, Edward Bernard 1914 - 2005 Edward Bernard Eichman June 14, 1914 - November 4, 2005 A funeral service will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home for Edward Bernard Eichman, age 91, at the Shafter Seventh Day Adventist Church on Lerdo Highway on November 11th, at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Shafter Memorial Park. Ed was born in Fargo Oklahoma, moved to Wasco, CA in 1926, then to Shafter in 1928. He married Luella (Lu) Friesen on July 30, 1938. He built their house in Shafter in 1943, and he lived there until 2003, when he moved to Mission, Texas to live with his daughter, Barbara and husband, Jose until his death. Lu passed away October 2000. Ed is survived by his son, Jim and wife, Shelby; daughter, Barbara and husband, Jose Salinas; four grandchildren, George, Trenda and husband, Steve, Delene and husband, Bart, and Dana and husband, Mark. He also has five great-grandchildren, Angelica, Edward, Danielle, Hannah, and Jacob. He is survived by sister, Lilly and husband, Leroy Adamson; brother, Clarence and wife, Anna Friesen; many nieces, nephews and friends. Ed was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and had been a Deacon and Sabbath school teacher in his younger years. He was a volunteer for the Shafter Walker Senior Citizen Center and received many awards for being a faithful volunteer. He loved the Birthday parties and Bingo. He was a member of the Eagles for 61 years. Ed loved to hunt, fish and metal detect. He enjoyed plastic canvas crafts and made models of the Shafter Train Station, the Green Hotel and Holiday Ford all in plastic canvas, winning awards at the Kern County Fair. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Highway, Shafter, 661-746-6314.
