Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Interment immediately following at Union Cemetery. Catherine was born on September 28, 1915, to Gracianna and Antoine Bordato, who preceded her in death, along with her brother Ernest Bordato. She joined her Heavenly Father on January 19, 2006, surrounded by all her family, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law. She was raised in Santa Barbara, attending her beloved Santa Barbara High School and Business College. She worked many jobs throughout her life, as a secretary, stenographer, waitress, bookkeeper, to employment at Lockheed Aircraft during WWII. The family moved to North Hollywood in 1943, and then later settled in Bakersfield with other relatives in 1945. Catherine loved to dance and re-met Michel Erreca at a Basque Dance, at the Pyrenees Café. They married in 1948, and had two children, John and Louise. The couple first met when they were 16 and 19 years old, then again in their 20's, and finally after the war. Michel and Catherine were married 48 years, when he preceded her in death, in July 1989. Catherine is an original and honorary member of the Kern County Basque Club, over 50 years. Almost equal amount of years was spent as a member of the Basque Women's Club, 'Bo-Beeps'. She was proud of her Basque heritage and passed this lifetime of pride down to her children and grandchildren. In years past, she interpreted for many of the Basque people in Kern County, and assisted in their business needs, throughout her lifetime. She worked for Wardhaw, Ins. Co., and then was last employed by Everett Sterner Insurance Agency, later becoming Sceales & Assoc., for over 20 years, until she retired. Catherine had also attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for 58 years. Catherine is survived by her family as follows: son and daughter-in-law, John and Judy Erreca; grandchildren, Jarrad and Jina Erreca, Ann and Dan McArthur, and; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Chloe McArthur; daughter, Louise Erreca and many loving friends and relatives here and in Europe. Also, like family too, truly heaven sent, Mom's neighbors Ray and Helen Stamper, our warmest heartfelt gratefulness for all your years of loving kindness, and endearment you have bestowed on Mother.
