Thomas was born in Maysville, Kentucky on April 15, 1936. He attended Dayton High School, in Maysville, where he graduated with the class of 1954. In 1955, Tom was a Veteran in the United States Air Force. While serving in Korea, he played for the U.S. Air Force Baseball Team until 1959. When returning to Kentucky, he played baseball for the Maysville, Kentucky A Minor League Team until 1961. In 1962, Tom moved to California, where he met Mary A. Frazier, a single mother of four. Tom soon fell in love, and helped raise her children as his own. His love for baseball continued, as he coached for the Greenfield Baseball Association in the mid 60s. He worked for Kern Valley Packing, until retiring in 1994. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated Cincinnati Reds fan. He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Evans; his children, Shirley Marshall, Morris Van Poarch, Charlotte Poarch, and Donald Poarch. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Tammy Brown, Scott Brown, Karrie Aguilar, Keith Miller, Jennifer Biehl, Ivan Miller and Thomas Poarch. His memory will be kept alive by his great-grandchildren, Daniel Miller, Allison Howard, Kathryn Miller, Raeleigh Aguilar, Kade Brown, and Tatum Brown. The family would like to say thank you to Gambro Dialysis Center, Bakersfield Family Medical Center, and San Joaquin Hospital. Your care for our loved one is much appreciated. We would like to say a special thank you to Toms wife of 46 years. Mary was a dedicated wife who gave Tom the strength and will to live, with the many years of loving care.
