Richard (Bear) Edwards was born December 22, 1940, to William and Irene 
Edwards in Bakersfield, California. He departed this life on Friday, March 4, 
2005. Richard attended the local schools and graduated from Bakersfield High 
School. He obeyed the Gospel and attended the Brundage Street Church of 
Christ. 

He was united in marriage to Delois Edwards and to this union was born three 
children, Geneva, Diana and Ricky.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene Edwards, his 
brother, Williams Edwards and sister, Dorothy Lee Smith. He leaves to cherish 
his memory and celebrate his life: his children, Richard, Radonda and husband, 
Antonio, Geneva and husband, Ronald, Diana, Ricky, Tonya, Irene, Bridget, 
Ashanti; and former wife, Delois Edwards; his sister, Cora Capers and husband, 
Tyrone; uncles, Thurman and Herman Gupton; eleven grandchildren and a host of 
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing to start March 11, 2005, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with an hour of 
meditation to be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Ruckers Mortuary. 
Fuenral services are March 12, 2005, 11 a.m., at Baker Street Church of 
Christ, 200 Brundage Ln. Brother Isaac Sandifer, Jr. officiating with 
interment to follow at Union Cemetery.
