She was born December 25, 1929 in Pauls Valley, OK., the daughter of Roy and Clarise Shaw. Her family moved to Bakersfield, CA when she was a young girl. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1948 and was employed with Pacific Bell and Telephone Company from 1949 1960. Her parents took seriously their responsibility to teach Christene about Jehovah God. Her love of Jehovah led to her decision to dedicate herself to Him and be baptized as one of Jehovahs Witnesses in 1950. She met a good looking man, Fay Fenwick, who would become her husband on February 11, 1956. Together they have 4 sons: Jeff and his wife Sheila, Greg, Doug and his wife Laura, Roger and his wife Stacie as well as 7 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren. Her extended family includes 2 step-sons; Gary and his wife Nancy and their children and Terry and his wife Debbie and their children. Christene has 3 siblings: brother, Vern and Marilyn Shaw, brother JD and Mary Shaw, and sister, Anita and Chuck Sanders. Christene believed and hoped in the Bibles promise of life in an earthly paradise. She had unwavering faith in Gods promise of a resurrection wherein she would be reunited with her family in a peaceful new world where death will be no more. (Rev. 21:3, 4) She found great happiness in sharing these Bible truths with others, most importantly to her family, who yearn for a time when they will see her again in perfect conditions. She treasured meeting together with her spiritual family and was an encouragement to all who knew her. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great=grandmother and friend. A memorial service will be conducted by Stephen Porterfield Friday, January 13th at 6:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses, 2701 Columbus St. Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 1/10/2006.
