Andy was born on March 23, 1936 in Paducah, Texas to Buster Bud and Delcie Evie Francies. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. The original jack of all trades during his working years Andy was a farmer, painter, oil driller, tool pusher, cement forms and finishing, color coater, pipe fitter, roustabout and welder. In 1972 he joined his work and leadership skills together with wife, Barbaras bookeeping skills and they created and operated A&B Oilfield Maintenance for twenty years. He was a member of the Caledonia Masonic Lodge #486 where he became a 32nd degree Mason. His kind and generous nature led him to also become a Shriner. After retiring he grew to become a capable cook, domestic assistant around the house, and developed into a fine organic gardener. Andy earned the title of Papa during his years of helping care for his granddaughter after school. He loved to hunt and fish with his friends. He especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara; two children, son, Leonard and his wife, Jenny of Kirkland, Washington; and daughter, Alana Cheryl Kelley and her husband, Wesley of Shafter, California; four grandchildren, Alicia, Adrian, Julian and Sonny. Andy will always be remembered for his sense of humor, love for his family and strong work ethic. All through the progression of his disease he was known to confide in his moments of lucidity, I love my family. He will be missed every hour of every day. We take solace in knowing that he is with God and his parents and he is waiting for his loved ones on the other side. The family wishes to thank Tina Malhi and her staff for their loving and dedicated care on the behalf of Alzheimers victims and their families. The family also thanks everyone who has called to support Andy and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimers foundation (hhtp://www.alzfdn.org). Viewing will be held at Mish Funeral Home in Oildale, Thursday, February 2, from 4-8 p.m. Graveside services will be Friday, February 3, at the Shafter Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m. Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 2/2/2006.
