Lucy Freitas 
Services: Wed., Sept. 21, 9:00 a.m. 

Recitation of the Rosary will be held tonight at 7:00 p.m., at Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church for Lucy Freitas, 97, who passed away September 17, 2005, in 
Bakersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, 
September 21, 2005, also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Father Dan 
Coyle will officiate and interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Born October 
19, 1907, in rural Bakersfield of parents who were immigrants from the Azores 
Islands. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Freitas and all her 
children, Alice Polston, Joe Freitas, Lucy Hurley and Frank Freitas. She is 
survived by nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-
grandchildren. Lucy was well known in the Greenfield farming community and was 
a member of the Alter Society of the Sacred Heart church, the Greenfield 
Senior Center and the UPEC. Visitation will be today from 1 to 5:00 p.m.
