He went on to San Fernando Valley State College (CSUN) where he competed in football, and played in the 1967 Junior Rose Bowl. Ad graduated in 1968 with a degree in Physical Education and began teaching and coaching at Taft Union High School. In 1972, he joined the Peace Corps with Group 51 where he met his future wife Marie "Ne" whom he married in 1974. Ad returned to Taft to continue teaching U.S. history and coached baseball, varsity football, and was head track & field coach. He was honored as a Coach of the Year at the California State High School Track & Field Championships in 1994. His love for people and places was evident in his many travels throughout the U.S. and around the world. Ad retired in 2004 and spent his time between homes in Taft and San Luis Obispo. He was loved for his sense of humor and known for his immeasurable accumulation of facts. Ad is survived by his wife, Marie, daughter, Lori and son, Brad.
