Reverend Jon Christensen will officiate. Roy was a high school teacher of Latin, French, and English. His career spanned thirty one years. Roy was president of Youngstown Education Association, and was instrumental in introducing salary indexing. He was Scholarship Chairman for the Elks Lodges in Florida, Ohio, and Bakersfield, CA. He was Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #55 of Youngstown, Ohio. Roy was a United States Army veteran who served in the European Theater during WWII, earning five Bronze Stars. Roy attended Youngstown State University earning his Bachelor's degree and in Kent State University earning his Masters degree. He also loved playing tennis, traveling, and swimming. Roy met his wonderful wife, Evelyn, of 55 years, while she was singing in the choir at the Lutheran Church in Youngstown, OH. Roy was a very devoted husband; as well as, an accepting and loving father. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Fisher and their children: Jay E. Fisher, a Psychologist of Bakersfield, Adrienne Oakes of North Canton, OH, Victoria Dena Fisher of Los Angeles, CA, and Sharon Miller and husband, Gerald of Parma, OH. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Aimee Barajas and, Josh Fisher of Bakersfield, Elliott Oakes of Florida, Nathan Oakes and Javin Oakes of Ohio, Joey Fisher of Los Angeles, CA, Gerald Miller Jr. of Tennessee, and Adam Miller of Ohio; two great-grandchildren and one cousin, Wayne Sheely.
