A short graveside ceremony will be held Friday, July 22, at 9:00 a.m. at the Union Cemetery. Mary McGee was born February 4, 1929 to the proud parents, Vernon and Josephine Fraser. She grew up in Bakersfield, spending many enjoyable summers at her grandmothers home in Morro Bay. She graduated from East Bakersfield High School and continued her education at Bakersfield Community College. Mary enjoyed her independence, and most of all the raising of her two children, Richard and Cheryl. She worked very hard to raise her children with character and pride. She always maintained a comfortable and immaculate home. The front of the freshly painted pink home always had lots of flowers and a nicely trimmed lawn. She loved to grow flowers and experimented with many varieties of annuals. Mary was also a proud professional. She worked as the bank secretary at First Western Bank and Sanwa Bank for more than thirty-five years. She was talented at doing crafts, and enjoyed going to the beach and camping in the mountains. In recent times she enjoyed riding in her son- in laws dune buggy, and making sand angels with her daughter in the Pismo dunes. Going places in the motor coach with her son and his family was a special gift to all. She had her bags packed at her front door, always waiting for the big bus to arrive. But perhaps her greatest joy came from being with her grandchildren. She loved them very, very much. She will be greatly missed by her son Richard McGee and wife Susie, whom Mary loved very much. Mary will also be greatly missed by her daughter Cheryl Palla and husband Rodney. The grandchildren, Alisyn Bastain and husband Blake, Blake Palla, Katie McGee and Candy McGee will miss LGMA the most. She will also be missed by her brother, Bud Fraser and wife, Sharon and their children, Jim and Cyndi Eyherabide and Chip Fraser and all of their children. Mary will also be missed and remembered by her closest friend Donna Zajak. Marys Family would like to extend appreciation to Dr Abhay Risbud, Oncologist at Kaiser and Sharon Hicks, RN at the Optimal Hospice for giving such personal and loving care during this very difficult time. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Cancer Society, or Optimal Hospice. Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 7/19/2005.
