Helen Louise (Friesen) Smith 
Feb. 3, 1908 - Aug. 24, 2005 

Services for Helen will be held on Monday, August 29, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest 
Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield. Helen was born in Pueblo, 
Colorado to Maria Bertha (Reimer) Friesen and Peter Franz Friesen. She joined 
her brother David, who was born in 1906. Three siblings were born and joined 
the family: Gladys (1911), Donald (1919) and Harold (1923). All have 
predeceased her. In September of 1929 Helen married George Herbert Smith who 
passed away in 1981. She gave birth to three children: Clyde (1930), Shirley 
(1932) and LeRoy (1935). Both Clyde and Shirley died at birth. She leaves her 
one son, LeRoy (Herb); daughter-in-law, Betty; grandson, Steven and wife, 
Ashley; great-grandson, Dominic Steven Smith. She had been a resident of 
Shafter Convalescent Hospital since January 2002. To all those in the 
Alzheimers wing and the Skilled Nursing wing, a very special thanks for their 
loving care and compassion.
