"Bob" 1921 - 2006 Robert F. Gifford (Bob) 10/27/1921 - 1/2/2006 Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2006, 3:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. My Papa was an amazing man. Better known as Bob and the owner/operator of Gifford Trucking. A WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force. Dedicated brother of the Meudell-Oildale Masonic Lodge for over fifty years. He sold his business and retired in 1996. He focused on other passions in his life, his son, David H. Gifford. The two enjoyed deep sea fishing and the company of one another. I had never seen the two so happy before. Then in 2000 we would lose my father, David, and it became the saddest day of our lives. My Papa tried very hard to overcome the sadness. He started playing pool with his grade school buddies, Lynn Kemper and Darwin. Better known as the Pool Sharks. Lynn was a great friend and would still visit my grandfather when he was unable to get around. My grandfather has battled kidney failure for many years, going to dialysis three days a week. The disease slowly took control over his body and has now sent him onto his next journey. That journey would be the one to take him back and reunite him with his son, David. I can only imagine how joyous they both are. My Papa is preceded in death by his son, David H. Gifford. He leaves behind his granddaughter, Shelly Gifford-Aldridge and husband, Mike Aldridge; son, David G. Gifford; grandson, Logan Gifford; cousin, Marilyn Phillips and husband, Jim Phillips and many friends who will deeply miss him. Special thanks to Dr. Baer, Bakersfield Dialysis, all homecare, Memorial Hospital and Kern County Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. Papa, you are forever in my heart. I love you, Shelly.
