Gray 12/19/1960 - 12/13/2005 Phil was born in Visalia, CA in 1960 and moved to Bakersfield in 1974. He attended West High School, Bakersfield College and Cal Poly, SLO. He had a passion for the fire service and a fascination with fire apparatus. He achieved his dream of becoming a firefighter, joining the Kern County Fire Department in 1988. Rising through the ranks, he eventually achieved the rank of Battalion Chief, taking the position of Fire Marshal. During his career he had the opportunity to serve as a Fire Department Chaplain, a ministry that was dear to his heart. Phil is survived by Robin, his wife of 22 years; Asa, his 9-year old son; as well as his parents, Stan and Kathy Gray. Phils passion in life was to serve his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a loyal friend, a faithful son, a proud father and the most loving and gentle husband. We will truly miss him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kern County Fire Department Welfare and Benefit Association Phil Gray Fund. A memorial service was held Monday, December 19, 2005, at 9:00 a.m., at Laurelglen Bible Church with a graveside service immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
