Gutierrez Rosary will be recited tonight 7:00 p.m., in the Hillcrest Chapel. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 31st, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary. Mom was born on July 3, 1927 in Nuevo Leon Mexico. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family December 27, 2005. Mom and Dad moved their young family to California 48 years ago in search of a better life. They suffered many hardships along the way, but mom was determined her children would have opportunities in life that would not have been available had she not taken that bold step. Mom was a loving, gentle, kind person who always had room for one more in her home, at her table and especially in her heart. Mom was an amazing mother to 14 children. She was able to raise her children, maintain her household, attend PTA meetings where she became very active in the early years of the Bilingual School Program, and yet still have time to listen and give advise. Mom accomplished many things in her life, all without an education and incredibly without the full command of the English language. Unfortunately the one thing she was unable to conquer was Parkinson's Disease. Mom was able to face her illness with dignity only to be matched by her courage. We are blessed as a family to have received unconditional love from this magnificent woman and our hearts are broken beyond words. We rejoice in the fact that our Lord and Savior has taken her home and that she will suffer no more. She is now reunited with our father, Luz Gutierrez who left us in January 1994. Mom leaves all 14 children and their families numbering close to 100 to mourn her passing. Special thanks to the many family members who provided her care during her illness and thanks to Augie for being a special son in her life.
