Norma Lawanna Giggy 
Services: Wed., June 29, 10 a.m. 

A memorial service for Lawanna Giggy, 79, will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 
at 10;00 a.m., at Mish Funeral Home, 120 Minner Ave. Father Craig Harrison of 
St. Francis of Assisi Church will officiate. Lawanna was one of ten children 
and moved from Oklahoma to Bakersfield when she was 18. It was here that she 
met and married Vernon, a union that would last until he passed away in August 
of 1990. They will be interned together at Hillcrest Memorial Parks Hill of 
Valor. Lawanna will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her patience 
with others, her sense of humor and always having the last word in a debate. 
She is predeceased by her husband, Vernon and brothers, Troy and Junior Reed. 
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Denesha of Bakersfield; son, Brad 
Giggy and wife, Kelly of Bakersfield; and stepdaughter, Sherry Gravel and 
husband, Jack of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren include Jeremy, Josh and 
Jessica Denesha, Ashley, Arianna and Austin Giggy, Barbara Wager, Jack Gravel, 
Jr. and Patricia Culley and 6 great-grandchildren. She is survived by sisters, 
Eva Castro, Ima Jones and Jerry Clark and brothers, Roy, Dwight, James and 
Louie Don Reed. Lawannas family would like to thank the staff of Shafter 
Convalescent Hospital for her care.
