Ira Vernon Gilley 
Services: Thurs., Aug. 18, 11 a.m. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 18, 2005, 11:00 a.m., at 
Westside Church of Christ, 4524 West Caldwell, Visalia, CA for Ira Vernon 
Gilley, beloved husband of Mary for 52 years, departed from this life on 
August 13, 2005. Interment will be in Visalia Cemetery. Vernon was born on 
January 19, 1926, in Clarendon, Texas. He served as Deacon, Elder and Preacher 
for the Church of Christ for the past 35 years. He served in the United States 
Navy for two years during WWII and enjoyed working and serving wherever he 
went. He loved fishing, camping and family outings. He is survived by his ever 
loving wife, Mary; one brother, Floyd Gilley of Oklahoma City, OK; one son, 
Larry and his wife, Mary Jane of Yuma, AZ; three daughters, Judy Curry and her 
husband, Vernon of Poplar Bluff, MO, Shari Franklin and her husband, Randy of 
Ridgecrest, CA, Jennifer Jones and her husband, Lyndon of Gladstone, OR; 11 
grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Vernon was a sweet and gentle man and 
will be loved and missed by all. Visitation begins Wednesday, August 17th, 
from 12 noon to 8 p.m., at Peers Lorentzen Mortuary, 132 West Kern St., in 
Tulare, CA. Any live plants will be placed in a Memory Garden.
