Bob was a wonderful husband, a devoted father, and a true friend to many. He had an unusual sense of humor that took many people awhile to understand. He was a strong man with a gentle side that made him very special to his family and friends. Bob was born February 20, 1948, in Bakersfield, California. As a young boy he was a resident of rural Shafter. With the help of his twin sisters, Bobby was well watched over. Many wonderful summer vacations with the family included camping and numerous trips to Avila Beach. His grade school years were spent at Richland School. As a Boy Scout he was active in many community events. As a Shafter General Bob was active in Future Farmers of America. Bob raised steers with his father, Jim. Bob worked for James Holt at the local gas station and was spotted all over Kern County in his red Mustang. After completing college, he moved to Ventura County to work for Union Sugar company. During his 19-year career with them, Bob was the field representative in Ventura, Kern, and neighboring counties. Shortly after coming to Ventura County, he joined the Oxnard Elks Lodge and their equestrian group, where he met his future wife, Susan Nunes. They were married in 1974, and have lived in Camarillo the past 31 years, where they raised their two children, Michael Robert (Mike), and Christina Ann (Christy).
