Services: Thurs., Aug. 5, 9:30 a.m.

Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 
Panama Ln., Thursday, August 5, at 9:30 a.m. for Mattie Lee McPhail, 67, who 
passed away August 3, 2004 in Bakersfield. 

Mattie was born November 4, 1936 in Athens, Tennessee and resided in Kern 
County for 40 years. She was a lady who was loved by all and was completely 
devoted to her family. Singing was one of her passions and she did this best 
at her Church. Cooking was on her list of favorite pastimes, along with making 
chocolate milkshakes for her grandchildren. Reading her Bible though was first 
on her list.

Mattie is survived by her husband, Charles McPhail; daughters and son-in-law, 
Janet and John Liggett and Debbie Muriel all of Bakersfield; granddaughter, 
Janelle Rowe and husband, Greg; grandsons, John R. Liggett, Richard Liggett 
and Andrew Muriel; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Helen Kirkland and 
Della Faye Bettis both of Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation begins today, August 4, at 3 p.m.
