"Hank" Jackson March 17, 1912 July 30, 2004 Graveside services for W.H. "Hank" Jackson will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Thursday morning, August 5, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Mike Polley of Valley Bible Church of Shafter will officiate. Surrounded by his loving family Hank passed peacefully from this world on July 30, 2004. Hank was the third child born to William Houston Jackson and Eva O'Render Jackson on March 17, 1912 in Lonoak, Arkansas. Dad spent his early years in Arkansas before moving to California in 1932 to live with his Aunt Clyde and Uncle Perry in Oildale, California. Dad was a man of many talents from crafting custom gunstocks to planting his summer gardens. Dad retired from the County of Kern as a sign painter for the Department of Highways and Bridges, but his first love in the area of careers was police work. In the mid 1940s he was the Chief of Police in Tehachapi, California and later he owned a private security patrol in Oildale. Dad was an outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and camping. He spent many hours hunting for deer in the Greenhorn mountains and on the Tejon Ranch, and numerous afternoons fishing for trout on the banks of the Kern River. As he aged and his hands became less steady he was no longer able to spend time crafting his custom gunstocks in his garage so his hobby became spending time upon the glider on the front porch, visiting with neighbors, waiting for the postman to deliver the mail and smoking Swisher Sweets cigars. Dad was predeceased by his parents, sister, Dorothy, brother, Marshall and beloved daughter, Patricia Musick who passed June 16, 2004. We chose not to tell Dad of Pattis passing earlier this summer and are comforted to know that she was there to greet him when he arrived in Heaven. Dad is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Lenora and loving children, Linda and Jim Narloch of La Grande, Oregon, Sheryl and Scott Voorhees and Dale Musick of Bakersfield, California; grandchildren, Michael McGrew of Social Circle, Georgia, Tammie Hatton of Bakersfield and Allison Narloch of La Grande, Oregon and also great- grandchildren, Jonathan, Tyler Renee, Hannah and Stevie of Bakersfield. Dad also enjoyed special relationships with his nephews, Les Rogers, Henry Jackson, Carl Marse Park and Jim Park. Special thanks go to the staff of Evergreen Healthcare who so loving cared for Dad in his last three months, especially to Nora for her compassion and kindness towards our family.
