She spent her childhood in the mountains near Jacumba and White Star Junction near Manzanita. She always loved her mountains. She lived with her grandmother to attend Grossmont High School in San Diego, then called the Castle on the Hill. She studied voice with Madame Schumann-Heink, performing in musicals and concerts. A graduate of Kelsey Jennings Business College, she worked as a legal secretary and court reporter in San Diego and Anaheim, CA. She married Maurice Ray Glascock in 1933 and they moved to Bakersfield in 1941. In 1943 the couple opened Capital Heating and Air Conditioning, which later grew to Bakersfield Air Conditioning Supply Co. (BACSCO), a leading wholesale supplier in the valley. Jeanne did the books and managed the office. The business is currently run by her children. An animal lover, Jeanne served as President and Secretary of the Bakersfield Dog Obedience Club. She was a charter member of St. Marks Methodist Church, beginning and editing the churches first newsletter, the St. Marks Messenger. A dedicated world traveler, she visited over 100 countries. She was a 56-year member of the Eastern Star. Jeanne enjoyed bowling and golf, and was a longtime member of Stockdale Country Club. While volunteering for the Camp Fire Girls, she organized countywide groups who carved a totem pole which stood at Pioneer Village for many years. She and her husband loved to ballroom dance, and were members of several square dance clubs. Avid RVers they toured the United States, Mexico and Canada until his death. A talented costumer, she designed and made eye-catching costumes, especially for Halloween. Known as the Trick or Treat Lady in her neighborhood, she delighted in having children perform for their treats at Halloween. Predeceased by her parents, sisters and husband. She is survived by her children, Joy Harvey (Doug), Judy Thornberry (Jay Farrell) and Jim Glascock (Lila); grandchildren, David, Doug, Scott, Todd, Leslie, Kyle, Jason and Denise; and 6 great-grandchildren.
