Woodruff February 26, 1916 July 31, 2004 Entered into rest on July 31 in Bakersfield. Beloved wife of the late Roland S. Woodruff. Janice was born February 26, 1916. She lived in Bakersfield most of her life, graduated from Kern County Union High and Bakersfield Jr. College. She worked for the Bank of America for many years and was the first female officer in the Bakersfield branch. While employed at the bank, she met and married Roland Woodruff and their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Jan Woodruff Sierra. Jan lives in Bakersfield along with her three children, Julie Sierra, Natalie Sierra and Evan Sierra and great-granddaughter, Nicole Sierra. Janice was very close to her family and they lovingly cared for her until she passed. Janice is also survived by a daughter, Betty Zoe Brown Leiser of Montain View, CA; grandsons, Gregory Leiser of San Diego, CA, and David Leiser of Morgan Hill, CA; great-grandsons, Eric and Jeffrey Leiser of San Diego, CA and great-granddaughters, Jasmine and Samantha Leiser of Morgan Hill, CA. Janice had many accomplishments, which included serving as past president of the womens organization of the Stockdale Country Club, and past president of the board of directors of the condominium association where she resided. She remained an active member of the association board. Her interests were varied, some of which were sailing their yacht named the Jan-Jan with her late husband, playing bridge at the level of Bridge Master, gardening, cooking, reading and socializing with her many friends and acquaintances. She was also an active member of the West Side Church of Christ, which she attended regularly. It was her request that the Neptune Society cremate her remains and her ashes scattered in the ocean, which the family plans to do at a later time privately. She was truly a unique person who will be greatly missed. She continues to live on in our memories. Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
