Henry Grado, Jr. was born May 9, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas and he entered into rest August 3, 2004 after a long struggle with diabetes. Henry was preceded in death by his father Henry Grado, Sr. and sister, Emily Ortega, and he is survived by his mother, Mary Grado; 4 sisters, Ramona Garcia, Mary Ellen Brinsfield, Joan DeGrado, Lillian Moreno; his brother, Robert Grado and several nephews and nieces. A lifelong resident of Bakersfield Henry Grado was a musician, a pilot and outdoorsman. He served proudly in the U.S. Army and then worked operating heavy machinery. Henry was a fine guitarist and played in a band at various night clubs in Bakersfield, playing both Country and Mexican music. He enjoyed flying small planes and often took his nieces and nephews flying. Henry enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of his time taking his nephews, nieces and neighborhood kids camping and hiking in Red Rock Canyon and prospecting on Sharktooth Mountain. He loved to tell stories about UFOs, Big Foot and The OK Corral and enjoyed telling jokes. He was also well read on the Bible. Henry was a very special person who was much loved by his family and friends. Henry, you are free at last so spread your wings and fly away to that place of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow.
