He was born in Lindsay, CA on December 6, 1919. The Denney family moved to Ava, Missouri when Daryle was 13 years old. The family moved back to California in 1936 and settled in Arvin, CA. He graduated from Bakersfield High School and went one year to Bakersfield College after that he worked in Arvin, Lamont, and Delano in agriculture. In 1940 Daryle married Roberta Louise McElroy of Arvin, CA and he continued to work for the Kovachevich Farms, which got him deferred from the Army until February 1945. He served two years in the Army and also was with the occupying forces in Japan. After returning home from the Army he built his home in Arvin, and the experience of building the house prompted him to learn the plumbing trade and became a contractor with a state license. He had his plumbing business for about 35 years in the Arvin, Lamont and some Bakersfield areas. He was known as D.R. Denney Plumbing. Daryle has been a member of the Nazarene Church for about 70 years and in these years he served as church treasurer, board member, and Sunday School teacher. In September 1, 1998 he received a Distinguished Service Award from the Arvin Church of the Nazarene for service on the board and for responsibility and wisdom in the financial and business areas of the church. For the last 3 years of his life here, he was a member of the Ridgeview Church of the Nazarene in Bakersfield. Daryle was also involved in the city of Arvin, he was a member of the Planning Commission, a Charter member of the Arvin Exchange Club, served as a Board Member of the Arvin Community Service District from January 12, 1976 December 5, 2002, and also a volunteer for the Boy Scouts Building Program. Daryle was a loving and faithful husband and father and will be greatly missed by all. He bravely fought Parkinson Disease for the last 15 years.
