She is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Butler and Lora Hammack Butler. Her husband of 28 years and a local area farmer, Bill Tatum also preceded her in death in 1963. Olivia is survived by one brother and four sisters in Texas; her daughter, Janace Tatum Lee and husband, Bill of Fresno; her son, Chuck Tatum and wife, Sherlie of Bakersfield. Olivia was Grandmother to seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren in Bakersfield, Fresno, and Sacramento, California. She came to California in 1945 and worked as a grocery checker in Bakersfield for 29 years. She was a pioneer in the organization movement bringing Retail Clerks Local 137 to Bakersfield in the early 1950s. In 1983, Local 137 merged with Local 193 to form the Retain Clerks Local 1036. She retired after 20 years with the union, and was very proud to be a union member. She was among the forming members of the Local 1036 Retirees Club in 1979. In retirement she enjoyed time spent at East Niles Senior Center socializing with friends, and also enjoyed attending grandchildrens sports activities. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all of us. Chapel services will be held Saturday, August 14, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be Friday 4 to 8 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary.
