Olivia was born on December 6, 1916 in Harrisburg, Illinois to Almedo Ellen Dorsey Teal and Mack Teal Jr. Her mother died when she was eight and her dad died when she was twelve. She was then raised by her Aunt Lula Thomas. She married George Murrell Runnels in 1939. They had 4 children. She was a beautician and her first beauty shop was in her home in Campbell, MO before they moved to Taft in 1947. She got her California Beauty License in 1958 and went back to work in Taft for 3 years. In 1960 the family moved to Bakersfield, CA where she worked at various beauty shops until 1970 when she again owned her own beauty shop called Goldfingers. She retired in 1977. In 1998, Olivia and Murrell moved to Santa Maria to be close to their daughters. She had many hobbies and inerests including painting, sewing and Bible reading. The most important thing in her life was her love for Jehovah God. She dedicated her life to Jehovah in 1951 and served as a faithful witness for 48 years until Parkinsons Disease took over and she could no longer go in the Kingdom preaching work. As a result of her Kingdom work, many individuals have dedicated their lives to Jehovah. Chapel services will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at West Side Family Mortuary, 1150 4th Street, Taft, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Murrell; her son, Michael; her son that was stillborn; her sisters, Elsie Mae Vavak and Christine Teal and by her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Lana Knor and husband, Frank and Tressa Horton. She also leaves 7 grandchildren, Felicia Knor, Nicole Knor, Sean Horton, Christy Paulk, Shelley Davis, Mike Runnels and Melissa Runnels. She also has 7 great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to all of Olivias friends and caregivers from Marion Hospice for their love and kindness in her last days. There will be no viewing hours scheduled and all funeral services have been entrusted to west Side Family Mortuary, (661) 763-1594.
