Sue Poteat Brooks
April 29, 1916 August 10, 2004

Sue Poteat Brooks, 88, of Stanley, North Carolina, died on August 10, 2004, at 
Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, NC. 

Sue was born on April 29, 1916, in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late 
Charles F. and Mary Jane Dixon Poteat.

Sue was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Stanley.

Chapel services were held at Woodlawn Chapel in Mount Holly and Sue was buried 
in Hillcrest Gardens. Rev. Charles High and Ron Caulder officiated.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Brooks; 4 sisters and 2 
brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Murphy and husband, Ted of 
Bakersfield, CA; son and daughter-in-law, James and Debbie Brooks of Mount 
Holly; son, Ronald Brooks of Stanley; grandchildren, Martin Murphy of 
Bakersfield, CA, Byron and his wife, Ashley of Mount Holly, Justin Brooks of 
Lincolnton, NC, Scotty Brooks of the home, Shannon Brooks of Dallas, NC, 
Chrissy Brooks of Mount Holly; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Brooks of Mount 
Holly.
