His children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren were at his side when he died. Lloyd was born on July 26, 1923, in Quinton, Okla. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945. He also worked for the Operating Engineers for many years before retiring. Lloyd married his wife of 61 years, Betty Lou (Bankhead) Dyke, on April 14, 1943. They lived most of their life in Mojave, North Edwards and Boron. Mr. Dyke is survived by his wife, Betty, of North Edwards; children, Leroy and Lynda Dyke (Michigan), Janie and Ted Smith (Tehachapi), Linda and Rick Peters (Edwards), Edith (Cookie) and Brian Shapiro (Idaho), and Ethel Dyke (No. Edwards). Lloyd is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Lloyd also has one surviving sister, Ethel Souza, of Mojave. Most people knew him as “Horsetrader.” He loved to trade cars, musical instruments and just about anything else he could. He enjoyed his hobby, and his family has many memories of his trading days. Lloyd was a Christian man who loved to play worship music. He was an accomplished guitar player and loved to perform for convalescent hospitals alongside his wife Betty. His love for Jesus showed in everything he did. A graveside service was held on Friday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Mojave Cemetery. Rev. Grant Frye officiated the service.
