Ted Nelson Turner
Services: Fri., Aug. 27, 1 p.m.

Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on 
Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., for Taft native and lifelong resident, Ted 
Nelson Turner, 77. Pastor Jim Beilstein of Peace Lutheran Church will 
officiate at the services. Military Rites will be provided by the Fleet 
Reserve of Bakersfield. Mr. Turner went to meet the Lord on August 22, 2004. 

He was born in Taft on November 18, 1926. He was raised and educated in Taft 
and the only time he left was when he enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17. 
He retired from the Seabee Reserve in 1987. He had been employed by Chevron 
for over 40 years. He enjoyed flying and was a member of the Aircraft Owners 
Pilot Association and the Fleet Reserve of Bakersfield. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Amy Turner; his brothers, 
Claude, Austin, William, Joe, Wallace and Rawliegh. Mr. Turner is survived by 
his wife, Maxine Turner of Taft; his son, Gary of Punta Gorda, Florida; his 
daughter, Vickie of Taft; his stepgranddaughters, Carol and Amy Sloan; his 
stepgreat-granddaughter, Angela and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Turners memory to the Peace Lutheran 
Church, 26 Emmons Park Drive, Taft, CA 93268. Friends are invited to pay their 
respects on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown 
Funeral Home.
