Metry Services: Wed., Sept. 1, 10 a.m. Elias F. Metry was born April 12, 1953 in Dinuba, CA and passed away August 25, 2004, in Bakersfield. Viewing will be Tuesday, August 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 1, 10:00 a.m., both at Autumn Oaks Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Southwest with full Military Honor. Eli was a great hearted man and lived his 51 years with gusto. He leaves behind his loving wife, his high school sweetheart, and best friend of 31 years, Dana; his two daughters, Kiersten Kimbrough and husband, William, Tamera Reynolds and husband, James. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Megan Kimbrough and Matthew Reynolds. Dad was so happy to have one of each. Dad also leaves behind his brothers, Ken and Phil; his sisters, Zana and Brenda; and his mother, Gerri. Eli is preceded in death by his father, Fred; mother, Marie; sister, Donna; brother, Sam; and sister, Sandy. Though our Dad was taken too soon, we are comforted that he is in Heaven and no longer in any pain. Dad was proud of having served 8 years in The United States Army, and 25 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Eli was also a die hard Dodger fan, a big fan of Las Vegas and slot machines, and an excellent fisherman. In his last year, he was so excited to fish with his sons-in-law and granddaughter. He was loved by all. Of all the joys in his life, nothing gave him as much pleasure than hopping in the car with his wife and exploring the state. We miss you already Dad. We know we will see you when we get there. And dont worry we will take care of Mom. And what is to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and seek God unencumbered. Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
