Jewel Kohal
Services: Wed., Sept. 1, 10 a.m.

Funeral services will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel on 
Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. for longtime Taft resident, Jewel 
Kohal, 72. Private burial will follow in the West Side District Cemetery. 

Mrs. Kohal was born in Ravenden, Arkansas on March 15, 1932 and passed away at 
her home in Taft on August 28, 2004.

She moved to Taft from Arkansas in 1946. She was married to Ken on February 3, 
1951 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a loving mother and a loving and steadfast 
companion for 53 years to Ken. Jewel was known for her love of pretty clothes 
and her sense of style. She made dolls and designed custom clothes for them. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Christine and Jo; and 
by her brother, James. Her survivors include her husband, Kenneth Kohal of 
Taft; her son, Matt Kohal of San Diego; her daughter, Katy Higgins of Visalia; 
her sister, Wilma Barrett of Grants Pass, Oregon; her brother, Hardy Lee 
Fernimen of Valencia; her two grandchildren and her 13 nieces and nephews.

Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and 
again on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to service time at the Erickson & Brown 
Funeral Home.
