Robert was born August 26, 1916, Arkansas and resided in Kern County for 58 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Robert was co-owner of Sears and Walker Market for several years. He was a member of West Side Church of Christ. Dads nickname was Moose, because he was large and strong. Because of his size he played center on a very successful basketball team which included his brother, Ewell, brother-in-law, Paul and cousin who later became famous as a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Preacher Roe. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Sears on July 23, 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Rita Sears of Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Robin Sears of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Robb McKinnon and wife, Jonna, Cindy McKinnon, Andrew Sears, and Anthony Sears; sisters, Noby Carroll, Esma Jeff Lonza and Revon Dees; sister-in-law, Blanch Sears; and three great- grandchildren, Kelli, Kayci and Skyler.
