He passed away July 13, 2004, in Laguna Woods, California, after a long illness with Alzheimers and Parkinsons disease. Carlton Connie was a Bakersfield resident from 1968 to 2002. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lois, currently of Laguna Woods, CA and their five children, Diana Teigen of La Mesa, CA, Bill Conrad of Henderson, NV, Elaine Deppe of Santa Ana, CA, Joe Conrad of Henderson, NV, and John Conrad of Huntington Beach, CA. He was loved greatly by his 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Connie served with pride in the U.S. Navy. He was in active duty as well as the reserves for a total of 27 years. So eager to fight for Americas freedom, he enlisted at the age of 17. He was a Chief Machinists Mate during World War II and the Vietnam War. Conrad worked in the Bakersfield area on many construction sites. He was both a heavy equipment operator and a heavy duty mechanic. An honest man with a strong work ethic. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 16, 2004, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Aliso Viejo. Connie was laid to rest, with full military honors, at the Riverside National Cemetery, Monday, July 19, 2004.
