Ernie Hughes 62, passed away in his home in Bakersfield, with his wife at his 
side, on September 2, 2004 following a long illness. His career successes 
include serving in the US Army as a Signal Corpsman followed by 40 years in 
the aviation industry with Northrop, Hiller Aviation, 57th Aerospace and San 
Joaquin Helicopters. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 
8, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bakersfield Museum of Art. Ernie leaves behind 
wife Ruthie of 20 years, daughter Alyssa Hughes Quon and her husband Jamie of 
Dublin, California; grandsons Jake, Wyatt and Zane Ruiz of Santa Clarita; 
brothers Robert, Donald and Richard, and sisters Barbra and Jeri. Due to the 
overwhelming generosity of the Girl Scouts- Joshua Tree Council and the 
exceptional care and service provided by Optimal Hospice Care, the family 
requests that donations be made to either of the following organizations in 
lieu of flowers.
