Delton D. Davis

On Sunday, September 5, 2004, Delton Donovan Davis, Jr. passed away peacefully 
at Memorial Hospital with family by his side at the age of 69 years. 

Delton was born in Graham, Oklahoma, June 2, 1935, the oldest of Delton Sr. 
and Jewel Davis seven children. He came to California as a child where he has 
lived in the Arvin/Bakersfield area since. A graduate of Arvin High School, he 
enjoyed his time playing semi-pro baseball as a young man. He was honorably 
discharged from the Army after a 2-year stint ending in 1960, after which he 
was re-employed with Standard Oil before joining Pacific Bell, where he worked 
for 41 years before his retirement in 2003.

Delton was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, American Legion East 
Bakersfield Post 682, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie number 93.

Delton is survived by his wife, Jeanne; daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and 
Tracy Anderson of San Luis Obispo; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Monet 
Davis of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Kyle Anderson and Christopher 
and Stephanie Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Roy Coughran of 
Ardmore, Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-law, Ojuana Kay and Jim Kennedy of 
Ardmore, Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Greg Holly of 
Bakersfield; sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Harold Rowley of 
Bakersfield; stepdaughter, Kim Massey and her husband, Todd and son, Conner of 
Bakersfield and stepson, Royce Kiger and his wife, Lisa and sons, R.J. and 
Eric of Loveland, Colorado. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, Ken and 
Doug Walker and their families, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family 
members and friends. Delton was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, 
Thomas and Michael Davis and his first wife, Joan.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff 
at Memorial Hospital, Dr. Kanamori and the entire staff at CBCC, Dr. Ahmed, 
and Dr. Naik for their compassionate care.

A special thanks to all those who donated blood on his behalf over the years.

At his request, there will be no service. The family suggests that donations 
may be made to a charity of ones choice in Deltons name, and encourages 
continued blood donations in his memory.
