Chita is preceded in death by her husband, Nickolas Calderon and she is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Bud Hudson and Bettye and Rangell Casillas; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Beatrice Calderon; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, including her newest grandbaby, Isaac Rocco Rivera; her brother and sister-in-law, Simon and Irma Chavez; her sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Raymond Calvillo and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. On September 6, 2004, Chita, with her family at her bedside, left this world to be with Jesus. She finally succumbed after a 20-year battle with Alzheimers Disease. Chita was born in El Paso, Texas 86 years ago to Angel and Margarita Chavez. She wed her beloved husband, Nickolas Calderon on July 13, 1943. Mom and Dad had a storybook beginning; he, a handsome soldier, she, a beautiful, young woman. After only 2 days of marriage, he left to serve his country in WWII and she lovingly waited his return. This beautiful union produced 3 children, Kathy, Bettye and Kenny. We grew up well loved and spoiled. Mom was a terrific cook. As our brother and Dad ate, she would be making tortillas fresh and fast. Talking and laughing were always present. She always put us first, waiting to eat, making sure we did everything we needed. Taking care of her family was her joy. She also spoiled her grandchildren. At breakfast time it was like being in a restaurant. Whatever they wanted, all they had to do was ask. She made sure they were happy, serving them oatmeal with butter to pancakes. She so loved her kids. Her newest grandbaby, Isaac, brought such joy to her face even through her suffering. Mom had such inner strength, never complaining even when life was so difficult. She always had a smile on and her parting words were always, I love you too. We will miss this gracious lady we call Mom. But we know she is with Jesus, happy, and laughing once again, walking hand-in-hand with her beloved Nicky- Boy. We love you Mom. Give Jesus a hug for us. The family would like to thank Moms special caregivers, Mary Gonzalez and Yolanda Cruz for all the tender loving care they provided to our her as well as Optimal Hospice.
