A long time Bakersfield resident, Katherine was born in Redfield, South Dakota, on March 7, 1916 to Conrad and Katherine Trecker. The family moved and settled in Anaheim, Ca, where Katherine met her lifelong friends Ada (Stankey) Robinson, Mary Louise (Rundstrom) Dudek and Betty (Rosebrook) Hughes. This close circle was complete by the first grade, attended Anaheim High School together and remained closest of friends for over eighty years. Sadly, the group lost Mary Louise in 2001. After attending Fullerton Junior College, Katherine and her parents moved to Whittier. She was employed as a teller for the Bank Of America in Los Angeles for ten years. Toward the end of that time, she met and would later marry Louis A. Miller of Bakersfield. Married in 1952, Kay and Lou enjoyed golf, travel and an active social life with their many friends. For many years Kay was a member of the Womens Club of Bakersfield, Mercy Hospital Womens Auxiliary, and served as President of the Womens Bakersfield Country Club from 1958-1959. She was also a member of the Assistance League and worked as a volunteer for Catholic Social Services. Katherine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lou, who passed away in 1982, her brother Vern and sisters Marie and Johanna. She is survived by her niece, Katherine Bradford of Laguna Woods, Ca., and nephew William C. Bradford of Oklahoma City, OK, and their children. Private graveside services will be held Monday, September 13, 2004, at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, in Orange, Ca. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Kays honor to a favorite charity of choice.
