She was born February 15, 1914 in San Pedro and was raised in San Diego. Catherine graduated from San Diego State College and became involved in Camp Fire Girls in Spokane, Washington. She was an executive director of that organization, moving to Kern County in 1939. In Bakersfield, Catherine met Rod Jameson and they were happily married for 64 years. They bought land near Glennville and there established Jameson Ranch Camp for children, which is still operated by their son, Ross and his wife Debbie. Catherine directed camp, raised their three children (and numerous children of others), while freezing corn, canning tomatoes, tending the garden, and assisting with many ranch projects. Catherine and Rod built their own home and Catherine excelled in the art of entertaining. In her spare time, Catherines hands were constantly busy knitting blankets for the next baby due. Catherine was a remarkable blend of ranch hand, working wife and sophisticated, elegant woman. Music and dancing were her joys. She directed the choir at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church in Glennville for many years and provided wonderful music for the local mountain community. She and Rod belonged to the Los Allegros Dance Club and would waltz and tango at the Jameson Ranch Camp barn dances. Playing bridge was an important social occasion for Catherine and she enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her friends. Wherever Catherine was, people felt loved and important. She is survived by her husband Rod. She is also survived by her children, Connor, Ross, Marla and their spouses Judy, Debby and Ed Reyes. She has 11 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relations who loved and adored her. Catherines greatest wish was for peace in the world. She cared for many friends and family members and always counted her blessings. A celebration of Catherines life is pending. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Catherine may be sent to: Habitat for Humanity, 1500 East 19th Street, Bakersfield, CA 93305 Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
