Byrnes died in 1923, April 1 Requested by: _ERMICK@aol.com_ (mailto:ERMICK@aol.com) The Bakersfield Californian, Monday, April 2, 1923 Pg. 2 Taft Business Man Is Called Suddenly TAFT, April 2 - Robert Byrnes, aged 35, manager of the Moron Lumber company, and one of the owners of the Taft heights grocery, died suddenly yesterday afternoon after a few hour illness. He complained of feeling ill on Saturday and upon advice of his physician, remained in bed. On Sunday he arose announcing that he felt well enough to leave his bed. He was immediately seized with a choking spell and before medical aid could be summoned, was dead. Byrnes leaves a wife and a little daughter, Edna, aged four. He was a member of the American Expeditionary forces in France and while abroad met and married his wife, an English girl. His mother and a brother residing in Long Beach have been notified and are on their way to Taft. Mrs. Byrnes parents and two sisters had just arrived from England for a visit. The remains are at the Taft Undertaking parlors pending arrangements for the funeral. yrnes was a member of the American legion.
