Hernandez Dec. 9, 1923 Sept. 10, 2004 Visitation for Leo R. Hernandez will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Leo was born December 9, 1923 in Los Angeles, California and he passed away on September 10, 2004 in Bakersfield, California. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Hernandez in 1992; and numerous other family members. He is survived by his daughters, Carol Gutierrez and Virginia Hernandez; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Louie Torres; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Barbara Hernandez; son and daughter-in-law, David and Anna Hernandez; 13 grandchildren, Margie, Marina, Mark, Theresa, Eric, Reynaldo, Martin, Andrea, Monica, Timothy, Victoria, Stephanie, and Cassandra; 13 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Leo married Margaret Marrufo in 1947, and of that marriage had 5 beautiful children. He lived in Kern County since 1949. In his younger years, he loved to go skating and drawing pictures. He also loved camping and working on cars. During World War II, he served our country in the U.S. Army and after his honorable discharge, he continued his Military service in the U.S. Naval Reserve. While serving in the Military, his favorite pastime was pitching softball. Above all, he enjoyed eating out with his family and friends, and bringing a doggy bag home for his babies, pets Samantha and Tabatha. His favorite quote was Dont be like me, be better than me. Even though he didnt verbalize it, he truly loved his family and friends. Leo was loved by all that knew him and he will be deeply missed.
