Roxie Ussery was born on November 18, 1912 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Mary and 
Charles Henry. She was married to Fred Ussery in 1931. Fred and Roxie came to 
Kern County over 65 years ago. She was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 
years. 


She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred; 4 brothers; 1 grandson; and 1 
daughter-in-law. She is survived by one sister, Ellis Denman and two brothers, 
James and Charles Henry. Her only child, Loyd Ussery and wife, Sandra; three 
grandchildren, two step grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 7 step great-
grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild and numerous cousins.

Roxie will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, not only 
to her family, but also to the many children she has taken care of over her 
lifespan.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15th at 
Hillcrest Memorial Park and the viewing will be Tuesday from 4:30-7:30 at 
Hillcrest Mortuary.
