Zeak Nov. 13, 1926 Sept. 11, 2004 Don was born on November 13, 1926 in Altoona, PA and passed on to our Lord at the age of 77 on September 11, 2004 in Bakersfield, CA. Don worked on the Pennsylvania railroad until serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Don served honorably on the USS C.P. Cecil and other naval vessels. In 1952, Don moved his family to California and worked for the City of Glendale till 1967. He then transferred to the State of California, Dept. of Water Resources and was the #1 HEP Mechanic until his retirement in 1985. Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia; daughter Karen and son-in- law Shorty Harris; son Donald and daughter-in-law Shirley Zeak; grandchildren Donna Harris, Sean Harris, Kimberly and Steve Blanc, Kendal and Heidi Harris, Thomas Thompson, Dean Zeak and Cassandra Zeak; great-grandchildren Jake Cowan, Brooke Cowan, Shelby Harris, Rylie Harris, and Abigail Blanc. Brothers and sisters: Helen and Chick Biscieglin of New Jersey, Gene and Flo Zeak, Mike and Nancy Zeak, Dorothy and George Moyer, Teresa Ellenberger, Pat and Mary Zeak, and numerous nieces and nephews all of Pennsylvania. Extended family, great grandchildren, Allison, Alexis, and Emily Couch, Larry Harris and family of Bakersfield, and the Weaver family and Bulger family of Pennsylvania. Don was preceded in death by his father Francis; his mother Marie; and his brother Dick. Don was a loving husband, dad and grandpa, whose love and guidance was an ever- present joy. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association. Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 16, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary. Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
