The family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1928. Dick graduated from Western Hills High School in 1938. He attended Miami University in Ohio, graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in architecture. In 1943, Dick entered the Navy as a commissioned officer. He served on the USS Quincy, a heavy cruiser, as a construction and repair officer. He saw duty in Europe, including D-Day at Normandy, as well as duty in the Pacific Theater. Dick married Lois Harless Porter in March of 1944 in Cincinnati. After the war ended, they moved to Pasadena where he began his long architectural career. His projects included hospitals, schools, hotels and office buildings, as well as private residences. He also worked on special projects for NASA, as well as the Navy stations at Point Mugu and Port Hueneme. His final project was the Bear Valley police facility. Dick belonged to the Kiwanis Club in Arcadia as well as the Chamber of Commerce. In Tehachapi he was a member of the Sportsmans' Club, the Men's Club, the Oak Tree Building Committee of the Bear Valley Springs Association and the Cultural Arts Club. Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Weimer; daughters, Vicki Buffalo and husband Tim, Shelley Daukulls and husband John; and grandsons, Michael and Brian, James and Patrick; and Kim Gold and husband William. He was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Trierweiler of Bear Valley Springs. Dick will be remembered as a loving husband, father and loyal friend, and will be missed by all.
