James Albert "Shorty" Crase


July 15, 1938 Sept. 14, 2004 

A memorial service is being held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2004 
at Greenlawn Cemetery 3700 River Blvd. for Shorty who passed away Tuesday, 
September 14, 2004.

Shorty was born in Campbell, Arkansas, raised in Tulare, California where he 
attended Tulare Union High School. 

At the age of 20 he married Frances his wife of 47 years, while serving 2 
years in the Army. Together they had three daughters. Shorty & Frances moved 
their family to Bakersfield in 1971 where they have all lived for the past 33 
years.

Shorty was a hard working truck driver of 25 years in construction, enjoyed 
life. He loved spending time with his family and friends. (Especially the 
holidays!) He loved playing golf, watching football, playing the Lotto, and a 
cold beer after work. All who knew and loved him will miss his outgoing 
personality and sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by his father Arlie Crase, and his brother, Bill 
Crase. He is survived in life by his wife Frances, their daughters and 
spouses, Julie & Kenny McLey, Terry & Kevin Fabricius, and Jamey & Tim Guill. 
He was blessed with seven grandsons: Jason, Daniel, Mitchell, Devin, Blaine, 
Cory and Matthew. Other survivors include his mother Maggie Crase, 3 brothers, 
a sister, and many, many friends.
