She attended local schools and was the only one of her siblings to graduate from high school. She attended Kern High which is known today as Bakersfield High. In 1937, Margaret married Henry Schroeder of Wasco, and they lived most of their married life in Bakersfield. They had two daughters, Linda (Galer) of Seattle and Ann Schroeder. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Henry; her twin, Helen Ruettgers; sisters, Madeline Stotts, Evelyn Thomas; and brothers, Gerald and Ralph Stotts. In 2000, Margarets health became fragile and she was invited to share the home of one of her twin sisters daughters, Brenda Barker. She lived comfortably for the past four years with the love and attention of Brenda and her sister, Joyce Collins and cousin Diane and Milton Rudnick, and special friend Thelma Ryan. Others left to cherish her memory are son-in-law Don Galer and grandchildren, Curtis Koch of Seattle, Kathleen and Joseph Orazio of Phoenix and Mark Koch of San Francisco; and nephews Bill & Nadia Laird and Brent & Carolyn Laird.
