Pastor Roger Spradlin will officiate with Eulogy by pastor Larry Wood and friends. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Lane Visitation will be Tuesday, September 21, 2004 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A miracle was brought to Mike and Joy Lopeteguy on March 22, 1971 by the name of Michael Todd Lopeteguy. He attended Readyland Preschool, Heritage Christian School, Garces High School and Santa Barbara College. In spite of his life long battle with chronic asthma he became a national wrestling AAU Champion at eight years old. He excelled in BMX bicycle racing, baseball, long jump, bear foot water skiing, snow boarding and many other athletic activities. His greatest athletic achievement was placing 2nd in the Mr. Teenager California body building classic. Todd was very dedicated and strived for excellence in any endeavor he chose. He enjoyed watching Nascar Racing, NFL Football and many outdoor events. Todd loved pets and always welcomed any stray looking for a home. Todd worked professionally as a journeyman glass storefront fabricator and glazier. Included in his prized portfolio in Bakersfield is the cross on Valley Baptist Church, Housing Authority on Golden State, San Joaquin Bank on Coffee Road and numerous others. Including projects in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Newhall and Las Vegas. Todd leaves behind his loving father and mother, Mike and Joy Lopeteguy; daughter, Lauren Leeann Lopeteguy; fiancé, Kristy Lund; uncles and their wives, Joe Lopeteguy and Lynn, Ralph Gamboa and Ruth; aunts and their husbands, Barbara Waggoner and Fletch and Linda Hawkins and Bob; cousins and their spouses, Joey and Carmen, Jeffrey and Julie, Scott and Holly, Wyendy, Brenda and Bill Gene; and his chosen extended family of friends. Pallbearers will be Keith Plemous, Mike Horton, Mike Kenny, Shane Warkentin, Bryan Sullivan, Jason Mystedt, Jimmy Brown, Preston Burger and Ron Warkentin. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at memorial Hospital which assisted Todd in his journey home. Their patience and understanding is greatly appreciated by all.
