Sept. 23, 1 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Thursday September 23, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. Alice was born July 7, 1914 to Harry and Hazel Black in Los Angeles, CA. She attended school in Taft, CA and married LeRoy Yeates in July of 1934. They moved to Wasco where they lived until 1965. They went back to Taft for a short time before buying a home in Kern City. In addition to enjoying her family and many friends, her two favorite pastimes were golf which she played until she was 85 and Bridge which she played until she entered a nursing home in 2002. She was well respected in the community for her skill in both games. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her sister, Blanche Lardy; and twin grand-daughters, Debra and Lori Marks. She is survived by her daughter, Genie and son-in-law, Bob Hockett; grandchildren, Tom Marks and wife, Theresa; Leslie Grover, Dawn Jordan and husband, Donald; Jeannie Cooper and husband, Kerry; Amber Osborne and husband, Francis; ten great- grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews.
