He was born in Los Alamos, CA on March 25, 1920 to Clarence and Reka Saulsbury. While a boy growing up they lived in Long Beach, Canada, Berkeley and Paso Robles before settling in Taft. Tink graduated from Taft Union High School with the Class of 1938. While in high school he played football and lettered in 1936, 1937 and 1938. On June 21, 1941, Tink married the love of his life, Florence Frazier from Paso Robles, CA. They were blessed with two daughters, Dianne Lee and Catherine Ann. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp from July 14, 1942 to November 17, 1945. During this time he was stationed in Australia, New Guinea, Okinawa and several Pacific Islands. At the time of his discharge he was a Tech Sergeant. Tink worked in the carpentry division of Standard Oil/Chevron Co. for 34 years. After retiring in 1979 he spent many happy years with his family at the cabin he built at Camp Scheideck at Reyes Creek in Upper Cuyama Valley, fishing, playing pool and barbecuing. He loved to watch baseball and football games especially the Dodgers and the 49ers. Tink was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 58 years, Florence; daughter, Dianne; his brother, Eddie and wife, Doris; sister-in-law, Ruth Snibley; and brother-in-law, Dick Frazier. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Scheideck; granddaughter, Lisa Roberts and husband, Jason; grandson, Bryan Scheideck and wife, Buffy. Also surviving him are his brothers, Earl Saulsbury and wife, Phyllis, Bob Saulsbury and wife, Barbara; sisters-in-law, Joyce Sommers; sister-in-law, Margie and husband, Jack Allen; brother-in-law, Walt Snibley; brother-in-law, Chuck Frazier and wife, Helen; sister-in-law, Babe Frazier and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Westside District Cemetery, Taft, at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 25. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
